European Commission approves funding for Sosteneo-backed hydrogen project
The Sosteneo-backed Puglia Green Hydrogen Valley project (“the Project”) has been approved by the European Commission for funding through the Hy2Infra Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI), a strategic funding scheme designed to support the development of hydrogen infrastructure in Europe.
Sosteneo previously announced its entry into the Project on behalf of clients in November 2023, joining with project partners including Edison and Saipem.
The Project represents one of the first initiatives in the region for the large-scale production of green hydrogen, through the construction of two plants in Brindisi and Taranto, Italy, for a total electrolysis capacity of 160 MW. The objective of the Project is to produce green hydrogen to be utilised in decarbonising the steel-making process at several Italian steel mills.
Sosteneo is pleased to support the pursuit of industrial decarbonisation to deliver positive outcomes for local communities, national economies, and investors.
